Recycled Energy - Smart Waste Tracking for Smarter Energy

Project Overview
We developed a specialized software platform for National Energy that enables real-time tracking of maritime waste transport for energy conversion. The system logs each vessel’s route, monitors waste delivery and removal, and provides detailed processing insights. In addition to tracking logistics, the platform measures energy consumption and production data via Smart Meters, enabling accurate forecasting and system balancing. Interactive dashboards visualize all gathered data — from volume trends and shipment history to operational efficiency and energy flow, allowing for enhanced decision-making and performance tuning. On the technical side, the platform is powered by a robust backend built with Python and Django, utilizes Selenium for data scraping, and orchestrates data processing pipelines using Celery and RabbitMQ. Infrastructure is provisioned and maintained with Docker and Terraform, ensuring scalability, security, and seamless CI/CD deployment. This full-stack solution not only optimizes energy recovery but also guarantees full traceability, compliance with environmental regulations, and improved operational visibility across the entire lifecycle.

Development Process
Discovery & Requirements Gathering
Collaborated closely with stakeholders from National Energy to define goals. Identified key data sources (vessel logs, waste metrics, smart meter inputs). Mapped regulatory compliance and traceability requirements.
System Architecture Design
Designed a modular architecture based on Django/Python microservices. Defined data flow pipelines from maritime sensors and smart meters to dashboards. Structured infrastructure for horizontal scalability using Docker and Terraform.
Data Integration & Automation
Built automated data scraping and ingestion workflows using Selenium and custom APIs. Integrated Smart Meter feeds for real-time energy tracking. Used Celery and RabbitMQ for asynchronous task management and processing.
Backend & Dashboard Development
